I had the opportunity to work on some conceptual hand drawn art renders for the motion picture John Carter of Mars (2012 Disney). First the designs were hand-drawn on life-size body mannequins .
Then the drawings were stripped from the body suits and digitized using scans and Adobe Photoshop.
Those designs were then tweaked into more detailed tribal tattoos
Then those renderings were applied to digital 3D sculptures
Then they were printed out life size using a special ink transfer to the actual actors. The final results were used through out the movie.
